Hey,
So far our class has been doing Information Reports on lots of different things. Like lightning, and now we are studying the Venus Fly Trap. My Report has so far started like this. I am not completely finished but I hope you like it anyway...
The Venus Fly trap is a netted plant, with huge threatening jaws used to catch it’s prey. The Flytrap ‘s mouth is surrounded by 6 long trigger which if they come in to contact with any other animal , like a fly it will set off a timer and under 20 seconds, it’s mouth will snap shut. It will imprison their prey for 12 hours until releasing it and feeding off something else.It will eat spiders, flies, caterpillars, crickets, slugs, flies and any other insect it can fit in it’s mouth.
The Venus Fly trap is not that massive, life-threatening beast you think of it to be. Small, safe ones can be grown and taken care of at home to. It is found in the Wetlands along the coast of North and South Carolina. In the 700- mile region, they are camouflaged in the rest of the bushes and rarely seen. Some people even doubted their existence.
The Plant has no brain and cannot identify what it is eating. But still manages to annalyze the difference between insects and non-edible debris that might slip into the trap. But imagine what it would be like not knowing what your eating.
