Snow week

This week, Christchurch had their first lot of snow this year. We were one of the only schools in the city to still be open, so it was just like a normal day but with giant snowball fights at lunch and morning tea. It was really cold so we had to come to school in jackets, jumpers and thermals. On Friday we could go to school at half ten. It was really fun but with one day of sun it all melted away.

Cross Country Movie

This Is my movie I made on the Cross Country. Hope you like it!!!

Venus Fly Trap Report

Hey,

So far our class has been doing Information Reports on lots of different things. Like lightning, and now we are studying the Venus Fly Trap. My Report has so far started like this. I am not completely finished but I hope you like it anyway...

The Venus Fly trap is a netted plant, with huge threatening jaws used to catch it’s prey. The Flytrap ‘s mouth is surrounded by 6 long trigger which if they come in to contact with any other animal , like a fly it will set off a timer and under 20 seconds, it’s mouth will snap shut. It will imprison their prey for 12 hours until releasing it and feeding off something else.It will eat spiders, flies, caterpillars, crickets, slugs, flies and any other insect it can fit in it’s mouth.

The Venus Fly trap is not that massive, life-threatening beast you think of it to be. Small, safe ones can be grown and taken care of at home to. It is found in the Wetlands along the coast of North and South Carolina. In the 700- mile region, they are camouflaged in the rest of the bushes and rarely seen. Some people even doubted their existence.

The Plant has no brain and cannot  identify what it is eating.  But still manages to annalyze the difference between insects and non-edible debris that might slip into the trap. But imagine what it would be like not knowing what your eating.

Cross Country 2012

Today we had our Cross Country. I was really nervous but ended up coming second out of the girls which is better than I thought I would do. Me and my friend Madison were running together most of the race. It was really fun and I got to be a photographer and See all the other runners up close. It was really hard at times, but I got through it and I only walked once. That was down a hill, I was scared I was going to slip because it was really wet and muddy. At the end of the race I ran as fast as I ever have before and I saw my mum and my other friends and the finish Line along with my supporting dog, Boots.
This was Us.....

School Term 2, What we've been up to.....

Well, we have our Cross Country soon and we have been training very hard in and out of school. We are all very excited and can't wait. I hope the Weather is good on Thursday and that the track is not wet and muddy either. We have also just started Spelling and Reading too. So we have a lot going on this term with Cross Country, Music classes, Science Fair and Technology!!!!!!!! Hope we have a fun term this year.

P.S I was looking on the Internet the other day and saw this poem which I thought would be cool to share with you...... HOPE YOU ENJOY!

I started on my homework
but my pen ran out of ink.
My hamster ate my homework.
My computer's on the blink.

I accidentally dropped it
in the soup my mom was cooking.
My brother flushed it down the toilet
when I wasn't looking.

My mother ran my homework
through the washer and the dryer.
An airplane crashed into our house.
My homework caught on fire.

Tornadoes blew my notes away.
Volcanoes struck our town.
My notes were taken hostage
by an evil killer clown.

Some aliens abducted me.
I had a shark attack.
A pirate swiped my homework
and refused to give it back.

I worked on these excuses
so darned long my teacher said,
"I think you'll find it's easier
to do the work instead."
--Kenn Nesbitt

My teacher calls me sweetie cakes.
My classmates think it's funny
to hear her call me angel face
or pookie bear or honey.

She calls me precious baby doll.
She calls me pumpkin pie
or doodle bug or honey bunch
or darling butterfly.

My class is so embarassing
I need to find another;
just any class at all
in which the teacher's not my mother.
--Kenn Nesbitt

I raised my hand in class this morning,
sitting in the back.
The teacher didn't see, I think.
Instead she called on Jack.

I stretched my hand up higher,
but she called on Zach and Zoe.
I started bouncing up and down,
but, still, she called on Chloe.

I waved my arms but, even so,
she didn't call on me.
She called on Bryan, Brooklyn, Billy,
Bailey, Ben, and Bree.

She called on Taylor, Tristan, Thomas,
Trinity, and Ty.
Then, finally, she called my name.
I breathed a heavy sigh.

She asked me for the answer.
I just frowned and clenched my knees,
and said, "I've no idea,
but could I use the bathroom, please?"

Anzac Day

Commemoration Service for ANZAC Day
Prayer for ANZAC Day Services

God of love and liberty, we bring our thanks this day for the peace and security we enjoy, which was won for us through the courage and devotion of those who gave their lives in time of war. We pray that their labour and sacrifice may not be in vain, but that their spirit may live on in us and in generations to come. That the liberty, truth and justice which they sought to preserve may be seen and known in all the nations upon earth. This we pray in the name of the one who gave his life for the sake of the world, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
